This matching pair of ladder back armchairs is made from sugar maple saplings which form the legs, ladderback rails, and rungs. The seats, arms and back-slats are made from highly figured curly maple. The legs, rungs, and rails are finished with black acrylic, covered with six coats of lacquer, and are decorated with carved hieroglyphics which expose the white maple. The seats and arms are sculpted, the slats are steam bent, and all are finely finished with oil and varnish. All mortice and tenon joints are glued and have delrin cross-pins for strength and longevity. |
