Stand up to this table and put something on it, as the cloud passes by. I make furniture that you can dance with, furniture that is participatory, playful, and suggestive. History and function are not ignored, yet I allow them to participate in the process as chosen limitations. Sometimes I begin with an idea and a sketch, but more often the forms reveal themselves as I forage in the woodland surrounding my studio. The Everglades Cloud Table is inspired by a recent trip to the Florida Everglades. The cloud is book-matched curly maple, finished with oil and varnish. The maple base is finishedwith black acrylic, color pencil, and lacquer. My goal is to participate with life, art, ritual, and the wisdom of nature. |
